Types of Pillbox
The actual numbers of different types of pillboxes built during the war. Data from eDoB including Removed, Unknown and Extant layers. As the eDoB is constantly updating and will never be 100% accurate (without a time machine) these are not absolute figures but are good for comparisions.
The above comes as quite a suprise to me, I always assumed that the Type 22 was the most prolific pillbox produced. Even lumping the common Type 22 variants together (on the right) doesn't bring them above the Type 24. I suppose this may just be due to my expectations depending on the pillboxes present in my part of the country. Or it could be that many of the pillboxes of unknown type(mainly removed by this point) could have been Type 22s. Also many of the variant pillboxes may be based on the Type 22.
