eDoB Online Map - PILLBOX (TYPE FW3/24): S0000431 (Extant)

Location: On landward side (S) of railway line at Ker Moor near Dunster.

Condition: Good

Description: 16/01/2003 Type 24 pillbox, concrete-faced (possibly originally with brick shuttering). Steel surrounds and visors to embrasures still in place. Faces N. Excellent condition. No public access. 27/06/1941 Pillbox, with camouflage in position as it has a pitched roof, seen in oblique air photograph. 1972 Hexagonal structure plotted from OS 1: 2500 sheet. Faces NNE. 05/03/1996 Pillbox with 6 sides, 3 of which face the railway line (approx. 9ft wide) , and 2 (10ft wide) towards Minehead and Taunton. The landward side, with door, is 16ft wide. The overall height is approx. 8ft, with turf on top possibly from original camouflage. Concrete walls have battens inset to hold wood cladding to disguise as signal box.
