eDoB Online Map - PILLBOX (TYPE FW3/24): S0000306 (Extant)

Location: Levetts Field, summit of Pawlett Hill, N of Bridgwater.

Condition: Good

Description: 15/01/2003 Hexagonal type 24 pillbox, concrete-faced, in centre of large open field on near summit of hill. No access. Faces N. 1940 Type 24 pillbox (N. 7) camouflaged as a square building with pitched roof. Blacksmith painted on outside wall. 1940 Bren gun emplacement. N. 7. 1969 Hexagonal structure plotted from OS 1: 2500 sheet. It faces NNW. 06/1995 Pillbox type 24 modified. reference N7. Roof 10ins thick. Vertical 4ins wide square shaft right through the roof. 2 steps down into entrance. Walls 42ins-43ins thick. 29/08/1997 Type 24 pillbox.
